The Booneville Lady Bearcats outhit Lavaca 6-3, but the Lady Golden Arrows got all of their hits, including two with two down, in the first and scored what would be the only runs of the game and went on to win 3-0.
The Lady Bearcats got back-to-back singles from Peighton Montalvo and Tori Nobles in their second but were unable to do any damage thanks in part to an out on the basepaths.
Caroline Diffee singled with one down in the third but courtesy runner Addison Elmore would be stranded at first.
Singles by Roni Tillery and Cam Parrish started the Lady Bearcat fourth and, after an line out, a bunt positioned two in scoring position, but a second out on the basepaths allowed the Lavaca pitcher to overcome a two out walk.
Ellie Smith singled in the fifth, Montalvo was hit by a pitch in the sixth, and Farrah Stringer drew a walk in the seventh but only Montalvo was able to reach as far as second base.
Makinley Ensey (shown) took the loss despite allowing no hits and just two baserunners, one of which was aboard due to an error, after the first inning.
The Lady Bearcats also took a loss in Fayetteville Monday, 15-0, when they were held to just two hits, those by Smith and Presley Walker to open the game.
Up next for the Lady Bearcats is a visit from Clarksville on Thursday before starting a series of four straight Conference 3A-4 opponents at Charleston on Friday.
