Bearcat basketball closed its season with a district tournament loss to tournament host Charleston Tuesday night, 60-43.

A Dakota Fonseca gave the Bearcats a very brief lead early but Charleston had opened a lead as large as 11 by the end of the first quarter.

Still the Bearcats would keep the Tigers within reach well into the third quarter, keeping the deficit between 8 and 12 until the Tigers were able to extend it to 18 with 2:02 to play in the third quarter.

It would only be as close as 11 the rest of the way.

Scoring all 9 of his points in the frame, Tayden Washburn (shown) was solely responsible for the offense that kept the Bearcats in range in the second quarter.

In the second half it was Reed Brackney early and freshman Drake Brackney accounting for 16 of the first 19 points of the half.

Drake Brackney finished with a team high 15 points and 9 rebounds. Reed Brackney scored 12 points and Washburn had 5 rebounds.

The Bearcat roster was void of seniors so can return completely in tact, as well as having the addition of the remaining freshmen from a junior high conference title team.
