Yesterday’s action at the Billy Kiersey Complex was decidedly lopsided with the Bearcats drumming Waldron 25-0 in baseball action while the Lady Bearcats were throttling Clarksville 18-0.
Parker Smith (shown) delivered a standout performance for the Bearcats, throwing a three inning no-hitter, walking two and striking out six in his first appearance of the year and only his second career start.
Smith was also 3-for-3 with a double at the plate and drove in three runs.
Matching Smith with 3 RBI was freshman Sadler Miller, who was making his first start. Miller drove in a run with a ground out, a single, and a bases loaded walk.
Jace Washburn tripled home two runs and Rhett Nietert hit his second home run of the season to complete the team cycle.
In all, 14 different Bearcats were credited with RBIs as 10 different players recorded a hit and 10 more were hit by pitches.
The Lady Bearcats scored 15 times in the first inning and also won in three innings.
Every hitter in the Lady Bearcat lineup had at least one hit except Caroline Diffee – she did not have an official at bat – and all nine of them scored at least one run.
Peighton Montalvo scored three times and recorded two hits. Ellie Smith and Roni Tillery also had two hits.
Smith and Shelbie Myers were the RBI leaders with three on the day and Presley Walker, Tillery, Cam Parish, and tori Nobles all had two.
Both teams are in action again at 4:30 today in Charleston.
