Makinley Ensey allowed just three hits and struck out six Charleston hitters in a 15-2 Lady Bearcat road win Friday evening in Charleston.
Peighton Montalvo and Presley Walker were both 3-for-4 on the day. Montalvo had four runs batted in and Walker knocked in three. Roni Tillery, and Cameron Parish both had two RBI.
Ensey was staked to a 5-0 lead before she entered the circle. Ellie Smith opened the game with a triple, the first of two she would have, and scored on a Walker single. Both Walker and Tillery, who had walked, scored on a double by Parish.
After a Lady Tiger error Montalvo singled to make it 5-0.
After Charleston cut it to 5-1, the Lady Tigers committed four errors in the top of the second and the Lady Bearcats built the lead to 9-1.
A runner reaching on a dropped third strike and two more errors led to the lead growing to 11-1 and Tillery and Shelbie Myers (2-for-4) drove in runs in the fifth as the lead grew to 15-1.
The Lady Bearcats will be back in action today with a makeup game at Cossatot River, continuing a stretch of playing four conference games within a week. The others are against Paris at home on Tuesday and at Mansfield on Thursday.
