Speed Evident As Junior High Bearcats Win District Track Meet

Winning all of the speed relays and finishing second in the distance relay, the Booneville Junior High Bearcats scored 206 points to win the District 3A-4 meet Tuesday in Mansfield, who was second with 154 points.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Kenan Matheson, Caiden Poore, Callen Montalvo, and Hayden Daniel ran a 49.28.

The 4x200-meter relay team of Drake Brackney, Matheson, Dalton Schmidt, and Montalvo ran a time of 1:43.54.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Schmidt, Matheson, Edwin Garcia, and Poore closed out the day with a time of 4:14.88.

The 4x800-meter relay team of Braxton Ritchie, David Bik, Jayden Walker, and Garcia completed their race in 10:17.26 for second.

In addition to the relay wins Hayden Daniel also won the 200- and 400-meter dash events with times of 24.16 and 57.90.

Cooper Smithson was sixth (25.84) in the 200-meter dash and Brackney was seventh (25.86) in the event. In the 400-meter dash it was Garcia second (58.90).

Daniel was second in the 100-meter dash at 11.65 and Smithson took fifth in 12.28.

Garcia, Bik, and Walker finished fifth through seventh in the 800-meter run with times of 2:41.21, 2:42.59, and 2:44.71.

Etha Schiewe, Walker, and Bik were sixth through eighth in the 1600-meter run with times of 5:38.77, 5:40.82, and 5:42.00.

Ayden Rhienhart, Schmidt and Kass DuPree all played in both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles with Rhinehart second (18.75) in the shorter race and fourth (51.78) in the longer event; Schmidt fourth (19.63) in the 110-meters and second (48.29) in the 300-meters; and DuPree sixth (19.90) and eighth (53.83).

Brackney was third in the high jump at 5’ 6” followed by Montalvo in sixth and Smithson in eighth, both at 5 feet.

In the long jump Smithson was second at 18’ 10” with Daniel third (18’ 8.5”) and Brackney eighth (17’ 11.5”).

The Triple jump saw Montalvo, Smithson, and Daniel second through fourth at 38’ 2”, 37’ 11”, and 37’ 11”.

Rhinehart, Poore, and Schmidt were second through fourth in the pole vault at 9’ 6”, 8’ 6”, and 8 feet.

In the throws it was Abe Dominguez fourth (110’ 2”) and Hunter Barnes eighth (95’ 2”) in the discus and Matthew Barber seventh (36’ 4”) and Kyler Carter eighth (34’ 9.5”) in the shot put.
