The Booneville Lady Bearcats sported Van Buren a 3-0 lead Thursday at the Billy Kiersey Complex but scored eight fourth inning runs on the way to a 10-3 win over their Class 6A opponents.
Down by three going to the bottom of the fourth the Lady Bearcats (14-7) got a leadoff double from Roni Tillery.
A couple of Van Buren errors sandwiched a Peighton Montalvo (3-for-4) single and a sacrifice burn by Shelbie Myers tied the game at 3-3.
After the second out was recorded on strikes, Caroline Diffee (2-for-2 and shown in a game earlier this season) doubled home the go-ahead run and Ellie Smith singled. Presley Walker followed with another single and it was 5-3.
Tillery singled for her second hit of the inning and a 6-3 lead and a Cameron Parish double made it 8-3.
Two out RBIs by Smith (2-for-4) in the fifth and Tori Nobles in the sixth stretched the advantage to 10-3 and Makinley Ensey finished off the complete game with a perfect seventh inning.
The Lady Bearcats are set to travel to North Little Rock Friday and visit Perryville on Monday before the District 3A-4 tournament play in Lavaca at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
There, as the third seeded team, the Lady Bearcats will face the winner of Monday’s game between sixth seeded Paris and seventh seeded Cedarville.
