Mattson Earns High Point Award, Bearcats Are 3A-4 Runner-Up

With Dakota Mattson earning the high point award the Booneville Bearcats were the District 3A-4 meet runner-up in Mansfield Monday.

Mattson won the high jump at 6 4” and ran a leg of the 4x100-meter relay team that won its race in 45.73.

Mattson (shown) was third in the long jump at 20' 9.5", third in the 200-meter dash at 23.51, fifth in the 100-meter dash at 11.73 and ran a leg of the 4x400 meter relay team which finished third.

The 4x100-meter relay team also included Conner Droemer, Chase Shelton, and Hunter Warren and the 4x400-meter relay team included Hayden Daniel, Shelton, and Parker Smith.

Also winning events were Dakota Stafford with a 12 foot pole vault, Damari Poole with a 138’ 5” discus throw, and the 4x800-meter relay team of Nathan Hicks, Brendan Hubble, Braxton Ritchie, and Smith.

Also earning state track meet spots by finishing second were Dakota Fonseca in the high jump (6’ 2”), Warren in the 100-meter dash (11.56), Smith in the 800-meter run (2:20.97), and Devon Ritchie in both the 110-meter hurdles (17.67) and 300-meter hurdles (44.63); as well as the 4x200-meter relay team of Droemer, Daniel, Callen Montalvo, and Smith.

The Bearcats totalled 194 points which was 100 points clear of the third place team but four points short of meet winner Lamar.

Ritchie was third in the triple jump at 41’ 6”, with Shelton sixth (38’ 6.5”) and Callen Montalvo eighth (38’ 1.75”); Blade Petchenik was third in the pole vault (9’); and Aiden Fox was third in the shot put (40’ 7”) with Warren fourth (39’ 4”).

Warren took fourth in the 200-meter dash at 24.03, Daniel was fourth in the 400-meter dash (56.35), with Shelton sixth (57.92).

In fifth were Hicks in the 800-meter run (2:32.46) and Daniel in the 200-meter dash (24.20), and in sixth were Droemer in the 100-meter dash (12.01).

Taking seventh was Josh Redmon in the discus (103’ 1”), Levi McMaster in the 300-meter hurdles (47.84), and Noah Harrel in the high jump (5’ 10”); and in eighth were Hubble in the 3200-meter run (15:24.28), and Dalton Schmidt in the 110-meter hurdles (19.49).
