In a game that took just 1:21 to play the Booneville Bearcats fell to Charleston 6-0 in the District 3A-4 finals Friday night in Lavaca.
Rhett Nietert opened the game by drawing a walk and Jace Washburn reached on an error but the Bearcats were unable to move them.
Held to only three hits, the Bearcats (14-8) would not get another runner into scoring position until the sixth inning.
Dylan Todd (shown) had an infield single in the third, Clint Osborne singled in the fifth and Washburn doubled in the sixth.
Charleston did most of its damage in the third when a walk, four hits, and an error plated five runs before Washburn (6-4) finally got out of it.
The Tigers added a run in the fifth.
The Bearcats will be the two seed in the Class 3A Region 1 Tournament in Lincoln and will face District 3A-1’s third seeded Elkins at 12:30 on Thursday in Lincoln.
The Bearcats and Elkins met at Arvest Park in Springdale on April 17 with the Bearcats winning 8-4.
Before the rematch the Bearcats will play at a nonconference game against De Queen at the University of Arkansas Rich Mountain in Mena on Monday.
