The Booneville Lady Bearcats took District 3A-1 champion Lincoln to extra innings Saturday, falling 3-2.
The Lady Bearcats (19-10) had taken a 2-1 lead in the top of the ninth when Taylor Villarreal went from second to third on a passed ball and scored on a Torie Nobles bunt.
Lincoln was unable to move their runner from second with their first batter but bunted her over for a second out and, after an intentional walk and a stolen base but the winning run in scoring position a double won it.
Lincoln took a 1-0 lead in the second and held it until the sixth when Presley Walker reached on an error to lead off the inning.
Walker, who did have one of the three Lady Bearcat hits on the day, was forced out and replaced on the bases by Roni Tiller, who would be chased home on a Peighton Montalvo (shown) double.
The Lady Bearcats threatened to take the lead in the top of the seventh when Farrah Stringer drew a walk and Caroline Diffee, who also had one of the Lady Bearcat hits, reached on an error but Lincoln was able to get out of the inning.
Lincoln threatened to walk it off in the bottom of the seventh but a single and an intentional walk was followed with a offensive interference out and a ground ball out to end regulation play.
In the eighth inning both teams got their runner from second to third with one down but Makinley Ensey and the Lincoln hurler were both able to strand the runners.

On Friday six of the first seven Lady Warriors to bat in the third inning would reach and the Lady Bearcats would be in a 4-0 hole from which they were unable to recover, which would relegate them to the third place game on Saturday.
The Lady Bearcats were unable to take advantage of back-to-back singles by Cameron Parish and Peighton Montalvo in the fourth and the Lady Warriors extended the lead to 7-0 with a three run home run and to 9-0 with a two-run shot.
Parish would deliver a home run for the Lady Bearcats in the seventh.
As the four seed from Region 1 the Lady Bearcats will take on Region 2 top seeded Salem on Thursday. The bracket calls for a 3 p.m. start time.
