The difference in the season opening game for the Booneville Seventh Grade Bearcats against Prairie Grove was the two point conversion.
The Bearcats failed on their attempt after David Martinez ran 2 yards for a touchdown about 12 minutes into the game. The Tigers were successful after a touchdown pass about 12 minutes into the second half.
Martinez would lead the Bearats with 50 rushing yards on 9 carries. He also gained 9 yards on a reception from Jagger Jobb and also had eight tackles.
Martinez’s touchdown run capped a 60 yard drive that came after a second down negative yardage stop by Braxton Ritchie and a third down incomplete pass by the Tigers.
Jackson Cain had a pair of first half sacks for the Bearcats and Camdan Earls (shown) thwarted a scoring threat by the Tigers with a second half interception.
The Bearcats will be at home again next week, facing Ozark at 5:30 Thursday.
