Ray Reaches Kill Milestone In Five Set Win

Kaylee Ray recorded her 200th career kill on a night Bearcat volleyball got its first win of the 2025 season Tuesday.

It came during a grueling five set win on the road at Union Christian Academy in Fort Smith with the teams alternated set wins throughout the match.

Ray had four total kills during the match and came up with 12 digs.

Presley Walker was the kill leader with 10 and Vanessa O’Neal had five.

Anna Ferguson was responsible for 34 digs to go with a pair of aces, matching the ace total of Cameron Parish and Walker. O’Neal had three during the match.

Emma Fox was also key in the crucial stretch of the final set teaming with Walker for a couple of blocks and recording four kills, an ace, and three digs.

Union Christian took the junior high match 2-0 despite a five kill set by Evelyn Rogers in the opener.

Clara Diffee had four kills and both Rogers and Sophie Shaffer had three aces.

The volleyball teams will return to action on Thursday at Bearcat Gymnasium to take on Mayflower. Junior high B, junior high A and varsity games are scheduled to start at 4:30..

Though the Lady Eagles are in the same conference as the Bearcats, the match is designated as nonconference and the Sept. 23 meeting at Mayflower will be a conference match.
