Fitzjurls Gets Rare Singles Match, Wins

Typically a double player, Harley Fitzjurls accounted for the only singles set win for hosts in their tennis outing Thursday at Marcelle Phillips City Park.

Fitzjurls (shown) won her set 6-3 over her Jessieville opponent.

Jessieville swept two boys singles matches against Whit Kendall and Hunter Pollard, also typically a doubles team, and two other girls singles matches against Joslin Corley and Raelynn Franklin.

Typically a singles player, Taylor Shaver took part in two doubles matches, pairing with Jaxon Harger in loss and with Braelan Lewis to beat a mixed doubles team for Jessieville, 6-3.

Fitzjurls and Malena Loftin also dropped their doubles set.

The next outing for the tennis teams is set for Monday against Harmony Grove (Haskell) at Marcelle Phillips City Park.
