The Bearcat volleyball team improved to 2-2 in Conference 3A-5 play with a dominant outing against Perryville last night, winning 25-12, 25-9, 25-12.
After a service break in the first set Emma Fox (shown) went to the service line and served up a pair of aces during an 8 point run and the Bearcats were never in any danger the rest of the set.
Presley Walker took over serving after she registered a kill to make it 12-6 and with an ace, a block by Peighton Montalvo and a couple points courtesy of Cam Parish it was 19-6 before rotation.
Kaylee Ray gave the Bearcats an early 2-1 lead with a kill in the second set then threw in a couple of aces.
She had another during a service session during which Parish had a couple aces and the lead was 14-5.
A Vanessa O’Neal kill made it 15-8 and Walker assisted Fox on a kill that made it 16-9 and Perryville would not get break serve the rest of the way.
Taylor Villarreal came off the bench to serve the 10-0 run.
Perryville battled in the third set, even leading 5-4 before a five point Bearcat run. It was still just 10-7 after an O’Neal kill but 10-8 after a Bearcat violation.
The Mustangs were again within 14-11 before an 8 point run with number 8 – Makinley Ensey – serving extended it to 22-11.
The Bearcats are on the road Thursday at Conway Christian, will travel to Mansfield for a nonconference game on Monday, and have senior night against Atkins next Tuesday, then close out the regular season on Oct. 9 at Lamar.
