The Seventh Grade Bearcats scored on their first two possessions of the game and topped Hackett 22-0 Thursday at Billy Mills Field in Hackett.
But first it was Zane Holt (shown) breaking up two passes – he had a third later – to force Hackett into a simulated punt to start the game.
David Martinez ran for 150 yards and two touchdowns on just 6 carries but it was Braxton Ritchie who got the Bearcats on the scoreboard first with a 3-yard run with 2:18 left in the first quarter.
Martinez added a 2-point conversion for and 8-0 lead then, after another Hornet punt, went 60 yards on a one-play drive with 3:40 left in the first half.
Jagger Jobb threw to Deacon Lunsford for a 2-point conversion and a 16-0 lead.
The Bearcats (4-2, 3-0) had one more possession before halftime but saw it end with an interception and another interception ended a scoring threat in the third quarter.
The lead would eventually grow to 22-0 on a 23-yard scoring run by Martinez in the final quarter.
Owen Houston led the Bearcat defense with four solo stops and Gaige Bills had a sack on the final play to keep the shutout intact.
Up next for the seventh grade Bearcats is a trip to Greenland next Thursday. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
