Raelynn Franklin went into the district tennis tournament as the third seeded girls singles player. She came out the champion with three straight straight set wins.
Franklin took down the 6-seed from Jessieville, the host school of the 9-player bracket, then proceeded to beat the two seed from Bismarck, 6-4 and 6-0.
That sent her to the championship against the top seeded Atkins player, who she also beat.
Franklin advances to the state tennis tournament on Oct. 13 in Conway.
The Lady Bearcats were the runner-up as a team at the tournament as Joslin Combs just missed qualifying for the state tournament.
Combs was seeded fifth but eliminated the 4-seed from Jessieville before being sent to the third place match by the top seeded Atkins player.
Both Franklin and Combs are juniors so they will return next season.
The Lady Bearcats did not have a doubles team in the tournament due to an injury to one of the doubles team players.
