Brock May will be on the opposing sideline at Bearcat Stadium as a head coach for the first time this Friday night. May took over the Greenland Pirate program this season.
He knows the stadium well. While a three year starting quarterback for the Bearcats May set the school record for touchdowns with 25. He also ran for 1201 yards and scored 17 touchdowns during his career.
May’s coaching tenure has had a rough go of it in his first year but the Pirates did pick up their first win of the season last week with a 35-0 win over Cedarville.

TODAY IN BEARCAT FOOTBALL HISTORY: The Bearcats are 9-4 all time in games documented to have been played on October 10, including wins the five October 10 game days.
On October 10, 1969 Gary Thomas and David Lasiter combined to throw for 190 yards and four touchdowns, which tied a single game record at the time. Thomas threw three of the touchdown passes and Lasiter one. All four were to Dennis Jones, which is still the single game record for a receiver. Jones caught 7 passes for 143 yards that night.
On October 10, 2008 Colton Waters ran 79 yards on one play and 73 on another. He was a little shaken up after a carry that got him to 298 yards and although he then had the single game rushing record, he was not permitted to carry the ball again to possibly become the first to run for 300 in a game. Waters’ total against Pottsville stood as the record for 22 years and is now third.
On October 10, 1997 Allen Ray kicked two field goals and five extra points for 11 points in the kicking game to set a kicking record that has since been tied. That night the Bearcats beat Cedarville 41-16.
