Last night’s basketball action in Scranton included a buzzer beating winner to open the night and an overtime game to wrap it up.
In the opener of the four-game set it was Mallorie Nobles banking home the game winner to keep the seventh grade Lady Bearcats unbeaten at 4-0, with a 17-16 decision.
The win made head coach Caden Cook (shown in a game earlier in the week) a winner over his alma mater.
The seventh grade boys fell to the Rockets 24-15 in the second game of the night.
In the most dominating performance of the night the Junior High Lady Bearcats moved to 5-0 with a 31-11 win.
It was a double-digit shutout lead of 10-0 by the end of the opening quarter and 15-3 at the intermission.
Evelyn Rogers notched her third double-digit scoring night with 13 and Alycin Pearcy added 9.
The fourth quarter saw Ava Hicks and EmJ Lee hit 3 pointers.
In the junior boys game to finish the night Scranton managed a split by scoring the final points in regulation to tie it at 34 and force overtime.
Scranton scored first in the extra session and again to win it 39-36 after Drake Brackney re-tied it at 36.
Brackney’s free throws to tie it gave him 24 points on the night. Chase Posey scored 5.
