Booneville Bearcat head coach Doc Crowley has a fifth grade daughter. Including kindergarten, Baker has never had a school year in which her father was not busy with football the week of Thanksgiving.
Along the way Crowley’s team’s have now won 18 playoff games, tying him with Scott Hyatt for the second most by a Bearcat head coach, trailing only Kenneth Rippy’s 26.
Crowley’s sixth team took down 3A-3 conference champion Rivercrest 41-13 to reach the quarterfinals and set themselves up for a Thanksgiving practice, on the way to another road trip to a conference champion in Glen Rose.

On November 28, 1986 in what was a semifinal round game the Bearcats beat Prescott 30-3. Prescott’s field goal gave the Curly Wolves a 3-0 lead and snapped a 23-quarter shutout streak by the Bearcat defense. Rusty McDonald scored his first of 2 touchdowns and first of 2 2-point conversions for an 8-3 halftime lead and after the break the Bearcats were dominant, allowing a minus 14 yards while pulling away with Frank Johnson throwing a touchdown pass to John White and Ricky May running for a touchdown as well.
FOUR QUARTERS: 1st quarter: Rhett Nietert joined two record lists last week. He is the 9th Bearcat with an interception return for a touchdown in a playoff game and the 12th to have two interceptions in a playoff game. 2nd quarter: Hunter Warren has 6 playoff touchdowns this season, and 16 in his career. 3rd quarter: Cutler Haller has 6 sacks in the playoff and 10 for the season. 4th quarter: With 14 extra points in two playoff games this season, Oliver Loaeza now has 27 career PATs, which is tied for 3rd in school history.
