A scoring drought of 7:34 to close the first quarter and start the second quarter cost the Lady Bearcats Thursday night in a 57-34 loss to Acorn.
Sophomore Emma Fox gave the Lady Bearcats an 8-4 lead with 4:24 to play in the opening quarter but it was 20-8 before she scored again with 4:50 to play in the half.
Fox scored 8 first half points and finished the night with 10 to go with 5 rebounds.
The Lady Bearcats were down 20 at that half and were able to cut it to 16 before another scoring run by the Lady Tigers stretched it to 25.
Anna Ferguson hit a 3 from just across midcourt to end the third quarter and would go on to score 9 for the Lady Bearcats.
Raelynn Franklin led the Lady Bearcats with 7 rebounds.
There was no boys game as the Bearcats are dealing with injuries and sickness, while awaiting reinforcements from football.
Up next for the Lady Bearcats is a game with Ozark Saturday evening. Tipoff is set for approximately 4:30 and the game will close out the Bearcat Classic for 2025 as the boys will again not be playing.
