The first quarter saw seven lead changes but when Waldron took a 13-12 lead over the Lady Bearcats 7:10 before halftime Thursday night at Bearcat Gymnasium, they never gave it up.
Waldron won by a final score of 58-40 in what was a girls exclusive night with the seventh grade Lady Bearcats remaining unbeaten with their second win over Waldron, 18-4, and junior varsity junior high teams playing in a game Waldron won.
Haylee Taylor (shown) had twice hit a 3 to give the Lady Bearcats the lead in the first quarter. She would hit a third and finish the night with a team-high 11 points.
The deficit was just one at 15-14 after a Raelynn Franklin basket with 5:42 to go in the half and just three at 19-16 after one from Emma Fox with 4:37 on the clock, but Lady Bulldogs opened a 9-point lead by the end of the first half.
Again in the third quarter the Lady Bearcats (2-4) chipped away, getting within five at 36-31 on a 3 by Franklin – she finished with 9 – with 3:23 remaining, but the Lady Bearcats managed only a couple of free throws the rest of the quarter and Waldron had opened a lead of 12.
That would be as close as it would get the rest of the way.

Typically the 6th woman for the junior high Lady Bearcats Clara Diffee scored 6 first half points and checked out for the night.
That would be the only points of the 12 minute running clock half and
Waldron opened a 12-6 lead and pulled away in the second half.
Lillie Holt, Kaitlin Barber and Rylan Ryan accounted for the second half points.
7th Lady Bearcats 18 Waldron 4
Charlotte Green got the Lady Bearcats (7-0) off to a quick start with a rebound and basket and the Lady Bearcats led 10-0 after the first of the two 10 minute running clock halves.
Hadley Kimes had scored 6 points by halftime and finished with 8. Sunny Bolinger scored 6 and Gemma Schneider accounted for the other basket.
It was 18-0 when Waldron scored its first points with 1:30 to play.
The senior high Lady Bearcats next play Monday against Danville. The varsity junior high team plays in Waldron at 2:30 tomorrow afternoon. The 7th grade Lady Bearcats next play on Wednesday against Magazine.
