The Booneville Junior High Bearcats dunked Paris 53-31 Thursday night to remain unbeaten in 3A-4 play and pick up their 10th win of the season.
The Bearcats scored the first 6 points of the night, which included a Drake Brackney dunk but Paris would score the next 5 points over a span of 65 seconds.
A conventional 3-point play by Chase Posey pushed the lead to four – Posey scored 7 in the game – and Rowgan Haller scored twice before the first quarter ended and the Bearcats were up 15-7.
The lead reached double figures on a Karson Tillery basket and one by Cooper Smithson made it a dozen.
Paris would cut it back to 10 one time but it was 17 when Smithson got above the rim as well for another dunk and it was an 18-point advantage by the end of the first half.
Paris would start the second half with a pair of 3s to trim a third of the lead but Brackney and Smithson answered and by the end of the third quarter it was back to 18 at 44-26.
Brackney had 18 at that point and would finish with 20.
Lady Bearcats 30 Paris 19
The girls game was decided early as all five starters had scored by the 1:20 mark of the first quarter and the Lady Bearcats would open a 16-1 lead through the quarter.
Paris got within 9 in the second quarter and again with 1:00 to play but a basket by Alycin Pearcy at the buzzer pushed it back to a double-digit margin.
That gave Pearcy 7 points on the night, matching the total by Sophie Shaffer. Evelyn Rogers (shown) was the leader in the game with 8. Both Pearcy and Rogers had 3 assists.
The Lady Bearcats are 3-0 in Conference 3A-4 play and 11-1 on the season.
