With 4:29 to go in the third quarter the Lady Bearcats trailed Mansfield 30-23.
Tempi Terry was injured while setting a screen on the next offensive possession.
The all state player Terry (shown) had been responsible for throughout the game had not scored to that point. She finished with 15 points and the Lady Bearcats scored just 8 more as a team and lost 59-31.
Six of the remaining 8 points the Lady Bearcats scored came on 3s by Haylee Taylor. That gave Taylor 6 3-pointers and 24 points in the game.
Taylor had hit twice in the opening quarter, with one giving the Lady Bearcats a 10-9 lead, and twice more in the second quarter.
Mansfield led 24-18 at the break and, although the Lady Bearcats had gotten within four at one point, after the Terry injury things went south quickly.
Wrapping up a fourth road trip in five days on Tuesday Terry was able to get onto the floor and would lead the Lady Bearcats with 13 points in a 40-35 loss at Lavaca.
The Lady Bearcats took a 13-12 lead to the intermission but Lavaca used a 19-10 third quarter to move out to a 31-23 lead.
A Terry free throw, a basket by Terry, and a 3 by Anna Ferguson got the Lady Bearcats within 31-29 with 5:29 to go, inducing a Lady Golden Arrow time out.
Lavaca answered with 6 straight of their own and again led by 8 until a couple of free throws by Terry made it a two-possession game with 2:58 to play.
It was 39-33 after two more from Terry with 1:34 to play.
The Lady Bearcats will next play on Friday against Mansfield, closing out the homecoming night festivities after the boys game.
