The Booneville Junior High Bearcats blasted Subiaco 42-13 Saturday to complete a perfect 8-0 run through Conference 3A-4 play.
The game had first been scheduled for Tuesday of last week, then pushed to Thursday, before ultimately being a noon tipoff on Saturday.
The Bearcats (17-3) scored the first 14 points of the game, led 17-2 after a quarter and were well on the way to an 11th straight victory.
By the end of the first quarter six different players had logged points and there would be 11 with scorebook entries before it ended.
Drake Brackney had 5 in the first quarter and would not score again. Rogan Haller had 4 in the quarter and finished with 6.
The leading scorers would be Toby Weaver, who came off the bench and had scored his first 2 of 7 in the opening quarter. Ayden Rhinehart also scored 7.
David Bik was another Bearcat to score twice, scoring both inside and outside the arc in the final quarter for 5 points.
Subiaco 61 Bearcats 16
In the senior high game Reed Brackney tied the game at 2-2 and gave the Bearcats a brief 4-2 lead midway through the opening quarter.
The Bearcats would not score again from the field until a Nick Widener three-point play in the third quarter and Subiaco was well in command by then.
Brackney finished with 6 and Widner scored 5.
The junior high Bearcats will next play on Thursday against Charleston before Saturday’s opening round of the Conference 3A-4 tournament in Cedarville.
The Bearcats will next play against Cedarville in a makeup game with the Pirates tonight following the Lady Bearcats and Lady Pirates. Those games were originally scheduled for January 23.
