Seven freshmen will make their first varsity trips for basketball today when the Bearcats and Lady Bearcats travel to Cove to take on Cossatot River.
Two of those, Alycin Pearcy and Evelyn Rogers, will be in uniform for the second time as they were on the roster for Tuesday’s game against Paris at Bearcat Gymnasium.
Wearing number 1, Pearcy (shown) logged her first varsity minutes in Tuesday’s win over Paris and was responsible for both an assist and a rebound in the 2:03 she was on the floor.
The freshman was not spared pressure in the outing, debuting with 3:57 to play in a game that was tied at 39, and staying for 2:03 until the 1:54 mark.
Her assist came on a go-ahead 3 by Makinley Ensey and the rebound saved a possession on which Ensey later scored after another offensive rebound.
Drake Brackney, Cooper Smithson, Edwin Garcia, Toby Weaver, and Chases Posey are the Bearcats who will be in uniform with the senior high team tonight.
They have, of course, been otherwise involved until today as they were winning a District 3A-4 tournament title in Cedarville last night.
Tonight's games were originally scheduled for January 30, but were postponed due to the aftermath of a winter storm.
