Booneville cheer coach Rachel May just keeps piling up awards.
May has been named the 2021 Arkansas High School Coaches Association’s Outstanding Coach of the Year.
According to an Arkansas Activities Association press release, “coaches are nominated by their conference or won their state championship. They were voted on for this award by the AHSCA membership.”
For May, whose 2020-2021 co-ed cheer team won a state title, it is the second Outstanding Coach of the Year award.
May was also named an assistant coach for the AHSCA’s All Star team of cheerleaders for the past season but games were scrubbed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She has twice been named the head coach of the West All Star squad.
May has led Booneville’s cheer teams to three state titles and two runner-up finishes in her career.
