The Booneville Junior High Bearcats will open their 2021 season tonight against Daradanelle.
The junior high Bearcats and Sand Lizards are playing at Bearcat Stadium for the second straight year due to a postponement from Thursday to Friday setting up a double header a year ago with the senior high Bearcats.
Jace Washburn started last year’s game at quarterback and will do so again tonight.
When the Bearcats traveled to Charleston for a scrimmage last Thursday, during the two quarters of continuous running clock 8-minute quarters Washburn ran four times for 40 yards and completed two passes, both to Aiden Carter, for another 5 yards.
Conner Lentz ran for 25 yards on two carries, Damari Poole had 19 on three attempts and Chase Shelton got 10 yards on his only carry to complete the 99-yard team effort.
The Bearcat defense also made a goal line stop after a tackle by Poole and Rhett Neitert saved a touchdown. Charleton managed 52 total yards.
Poole and Seth Wilson both had three total tackles for the Bearcats.
