History will be made tonight because the Booneville Bearcat football program does not have a documented game played on the date.
However, it will not be the earliest a Bearcat football team has played a football game. That happened three years ago against Clarksville when the Bearcats played their first so-called Week 0 game.
The Bearcats are 2-1 in Week 0 games thus far and are 9-3 in games documented to have been played in August after last season's win over the Sand Lizards at Bearcat Stadium. The loss among the Week 0 games was a road game at Clarksville in 2019.

Ethan Wooldridge ran for 103 yards and intercepted two passes against the Sand Lizards in the 2020 game at Bearcat Stadium.
Last year's Dardanelle game was the first win under Doc Crowley, the 18th head coach of the Bearcat football program.
With losses in 2014 and 2016, and no meetings in Dardanelle since, Booneville hasn't won in Dardanelle since 2012.
