During the first week of the volleyball season the Booneville Lady Cats suffered two losses, but they won a combined three sets.
During the second week of the season, the Lady Cats won their first game under Bailey Stringer, and followed up by winning their home opener/conference opener just 24 hours later.
They did so without losing a set.
The initial win of the 2021 season came at the expense of Ozark, 25-14, 25-14, 25-18.
Hayley Lunsford was one of the stars that night with six kills, three aces, and seven digs.
Karmen Kent had five kills and both Joleigh Tate and Abby O’Bar had four. Tate had a couple of aces as well and it was libero Camdyn Dove (shown against Waldron on Tuesday) who led the way in digs with 15 with Kent adding eight.
The Lady Cats next match is Tuesday in Paris.
Against Waldron on Tuesday the Lady Cats raced to a 10-4 first set lead. Katelynn Spain took over and kept serve through 14-4 featuring a Laney Parrish kill and the Lady Cats went on to a 25-9 win after a streak of points with Parrish serving and a sneaky kill by Lunsford pushed the lead to as large as 24-7.
In the second set after Waldron got the first point, Jessica Cauthon took over at 1-1 and stayed on serve through 7-1 capped by back-to-back kills by Tate.
The score was eventually again 10-4 and would be 15-6 after Hayley Roberts slammed one down and would grow to 17-6 on a Kent kill and 19-6 after a Roberts block. Waldron took a time out at 21-6 and the Lady Cats won the set 25-11.
Roberts started the final set with a kill and the Lady Cats went on to lead 6-1 on the way to a 25-13 final to wrap up the match win.
