TENNIS SEASON HAS STARTED

The Booneville Bearcat tennis team was rained out in Jessieville yesterday. It is the second match that has been scrubbed this season.

The team was looking to build on Monday’s matches in Mulberry where no Bearcat lost a single set.

Tennis team members are Layla Byrum, Linley Garrett, Lexi Franklin, Mary Haynes, Angie Brown, George Griffiths, Evan Escobedo, London Lee, and Tyler Ray.

The Bearcats had opened the season with matches at Dardanelle on September 7.

Highlights from that trip included Lee and Escobedo beating Dardanelle’s top boys doubles team (6-1); Haynes and Brown beating the second ranked Dardanelle girls doubles team (6-1); and Linley Garrett and Layla Byrum beating Dardanelle’s top girls doubles team (6-2).

Escobedo and Haynes also played in a mixed doubles match and won (6-2), Angie Brown won a girls single match (6-0) and Tyler Ray won a boys single match (6-5).

The tennis team is scheduled to face Paris at home on September 20.
