Both the Booneville Bearcat and Lady Cat golf teams finished as the District 3A-4 runner-up landing themselves spots in their respective Class 3A state tournaments.
In the girls division of the tournament, which was hosted by Cherokee Creek Country Club in Booneville, it was Leigh Swint leading the Lady Cats with an 89. Swint's round was the second lowest of the day.
Joleigh Tate (shown teeing off) shot a 94 and Brook Turner’s 115 gave the Lady Cats a 298 team total second to Charleston.
Hayley Lunsford was the fourth Lady Cat representative on the course.
The Lady Cats were 17 strokes in front of third place team Atkins and Dover was fourth among schools with at least three competing players.
There were seven school represented in the girls division and all 11 assigned to the conference in the boys division which was won by Waldron with three golfers shooting 80 or less.
The Bearcats got rounds of 82 from Brooks Herrera, 88 from Brett Welling, and a 91 from freshman Jace Washburn for a 261 total, which edged Charleston by five strokes.
Herrera's round was the fourth best of the day by a boy. Rylen Ray was the fourth Bearcat representative on the course.
Placing fourth and fifth as a team were Danville and Perryville.
Head coach Jake Fennell’s Bearcats will compete in the Class 3A state tournament at the Creeks in Cave Springs on October 5. The Lady Cats will hit the links in Glenwood Country Club for their state tournament on September 29.
