The Bearcat tennis program got to play at its newly resurfaced home courts at Marcelle Phillips City Park for the first time on Tuesday against Paris.
With the exception of one boys single match, the Bearcat netters swept the match against the Eagles.
Included in the nine match wins was the set between the top male players from each school, where George Griffiths picked up a 6-4 win.
Tyler Ray also picked up a singles win but was unable to duplicate it against the top Eagle player though he managed to win three games in the set.
Layla Byrum, Angie Brown, and Mary Haynes all won singles matches for the girls.
Head coach Katelyn Holub’s squad swept the doubles matches with Evan Escobedo and London Lee winning theirs 6-3.
Brown and Haynes, and Linley Garrett and Lexi Franklin both won their matches without losing a game. Garrett and Franklin also won a match against a mixed doubles pairing.
On Monday the tennis team visited Jessieville, which will host the district tournament.
Highlights included Byrum and Brown taking down the top Lady Lion doubles team, and Garrett and Franklin beating the same opponent and a second doubles team.
In girls singles play, Ellie Smith won her set, 6-4. In the boys division Griffiths split his sets.
