The Booneville Seventh Grade Bearcats moved 70 yards in 14 plays to open their game against Two Rivers in Ola Thursday, then made the resulting 8-0 lead stand up the rest of the game.
Rylie Swint and Hunner Inklebarger, twice, converted third downs to firsts during the drive and quarterback Tayden Washburn carried for the touchdown from the 4.
The Gators responded by driving to the Bearcat 6-yard line but a fourth-and-1 play was stuffed by Inklebarger and Brody Chambers to end the threat.
Two Rivers was nearing the Bearcat red zone with their first possession of the second half before a fumble was pounced on by Chambers to end that threat.
Chambers forced another fumble on the next Gator possession that Inklebarger recovered and Washburn recovered yet another loose ball with less than two minutes to go to allow the Bearcats to claim the win.
Before leaving the game Reed Brackney, who scored the two-point conversion after Washburn's touchdown, ran for 66 yards to lead the Bearcats. Inklebarger picked up 50 more on his 12 carries.
Logging highlights on defense were Michael Nichols, who had a team best three solo tackles, including one for a loss, and four total tackles. Maddox Crosby was in on five tackles as well.
