The Booneville Beracats ran 21 offensive plays Friday night against Two Rivers. Seven of those resulted in touchdowns in a 49-6 thrashing of the Gators.
The first play was a 46-yard touchdown run by Randon Ray.
After a fumble recovery by Casey Mattson (play depicted) it took the Bearcats three plays to score with Brooks Herrera going into the end zone from the 4.
The third drive was another single play drive with Randon Ray running 60 yards for a touchdown and it was 21-0 with 5:20 left in the first quarter.
The next score came three plays after a second turnover – an interception by Peyton Tatum – with Rylen Ray running 20 yards for the touchdown to make it 28-0.
Dax Goff scored on a run of 43 yards to finish a two-play drive and it was 35-0 11:06 before halftime and the sportsmanship running clock rule took effect.
Tatum rumbled 75 yards for a touchdown on the next Bearcat possession. Trace Hall had two big gains – one of them a touchdown – negated by holding penalties before Tatum made it 42-0 with under four minutes left in the half.
At halftime the Gators had a minus 35 yards of total offense.
For the night there were 11 tackles for a loss with Johnny Barnes, Mattson, and Goff all credited with 2.5 apiece. Farris Danes got credit for a quarterback sack on a play that resulted in Two Rivers being penalized for intentional grounding.
Two Rivers avoided the shutout on the final play of the third quarter, scoring from the 1 on a fourth down play. The point after was blocked by Cody Elliott to keep it 42-6.
The Gators had converted a fourth-and-3 earlier in the drive and were gifted a first down at the Bearcat 5 due to an offside penalty.
Elliott had a 33-yard run to help set up the final score of the night, a 34-yard run by Garrick Barr.
Following Barr’s touchdown, Pablo Ferrer converted his seventh straight point after of the game, and his 10th straight since joining the roster.
Friday marked the 21st time a Bearcat kicker has converted at least seven PATs in a game. Ferrer is the 11th different kicker on the list.
Following the game Bearcat head coach Doc Crowley learned that their Oct. 1 opponent, Danville, has elected to forfeit. The Bearcat staff is actively looking for a replacement game.
