With three conference matches in four days, once it became apparent in Monday’s match that the Lady Bearcats were in command against Lincoln, head coach Bailey Stringer turned the match over to players who typically see JV action.
It was a 7-7 game in the third set when Stringer went to Kylie Lunsford and Hailey Haines followed her in a point later. Emma Mikles and Teagen McMaster also came to the floor as the teams traded points and it was 9-9.
Down 11-10, a kill by Kylie Lunsford (shown serving) tied it, an ace by libero Camdyn Dove gave the Lady Cats the lead and kills by Kylie Lunsford and Mikles made it 14-13.
It was tied twice more before Kylie Lunford had a third kill in the game and a substitution violation made it 17-15.
At 17-16 Haven Harrera joined the action for Stringer and the Lady Cats and would take a turn on serve.
Although Lincoln rebounded to take the lead, Stringer stayed with the mixture of younger players and regulars and it paid off as a kill by Kalynn Horton tied it at 18-18.
Lincoln got the next two points by Laney Parrish and Haines kills tied it again, and an ace by Katelynn Spain gave the Lady Cats the lead.
Again Lincoln went in front, but down 22-21 Stringer had McMaster serving and McMaster broke a tie with an ace before a block and kill by Parrish ended it 25-22.
With Hayley Lunsford serving to start game two the Lady Bearcats opened an 8-0 lead.
Hayley Lunsford started it with an ace and had two others before Lincoln took over on service. Abby O’Bar also had a pair of kills in the run.
At 14-4 Kylie Lunsford entered the game and Mikles and McMaster both made their way to the floor as the Lady Bearcats continued to enjoy a big lead.
Mikles would team up with Hayley Lunsford on a block to make it 19-6 and the Lady Bearcats went on to win the set 25-7.
The Lady Bearcats won the first set 25-15 after spotting Lincoln a 2-0 lead before breaking serve.
After that the Lady Bearcats ran off seven straight points to lead 8-2. The run included four aces by Hayley Lunsford.
Lincoln cut it to as few as a three point deficit at 8-5 and 9-6 but the Lady Bearcats stretched it to 12-6 on an ace by Karmen Kent and eventually to 13-6.
The lead remained at least six the rest of the way and reached 10 once at 23-13 on a kill by Hayley Lunsford.
A block by Hayley Roberts brought up game point which the Lady Bearcats won to close it at 25-15.
The Lady Bearcats face Charleston at BHS gym today and travel to Hackett on Thursday.
