Bearcats Runners Compete At Buck Fever Showcase

The Booneville Bearcat cross country team took on the course in Mena at the Buck Fever Showcase 2021 on Tuesday.

Emery Honey led the Bearcats with a 14th place finish among 66 runners, with a time of 19:59.0. The Bearcats were sixth as a team overall and second among schools Class 3A and below.

Also figuring into the Bearcat scoring were C.J. Johnson in 17th and Elliott Wortham in 28th, along with London Lee and Caden Evans.

One spot behind Evans, in the first tiebreaker spot was Boston Keatts. The second tiebreaker spot was filled by Trenton Jones.

The Lady Bearcats had only three runners and didn’t qualify for team standings but were led by Lexi Franklin who was 11th in the 37-runner field with a time of 25:36.9.

Also running were Carah Miller and Caroline Smithson.

The Junior High Bearcats had a full contingent of runners and were fifth as a team, but second in schools Class 3A and below.

The Junior Bearcats were led by Sean Pennington’s 11th place finish – among 80 runners – matching Franklin to represent the school’s best of the day. Pennington ran the 2500-meter course in 9:40.4.

Taylor Shaver ran 19th at 9:59.01, Cody Sum was 26th, Wesley Fonseca was 27th, and Dakota Fonseca completing the scoring.

Finishing in the tiebreaker spots were Colt Cobb and Carson Smoker.

For the Junior Lady Bearcats it was Zayla Honey leading the way with a 24th place finish in the 74-runner field with a time of 12:58.2.

Also completing the course were Natalie Blankenship and Raelynn Franklin.
