The Booneville 7th Grade Bearcats decided they liked winning so much, they would do it again.

Before a home crown on Thursday, the Bearcats, who were open last week after winning in Two Rivers the previous week, downed Mayflower 22-8.

The Bearcats had four rushers between 38 and 52 yards who combined for their 179 total offensive yards.

After a simulated punt ended the Eagles first possession the Bearcats went 68 yards in 11 plays and overcame a holding penalty on the way.

Hunner Inklebarger started the drive with a 5-yard carry and scored from the 6. Inklebarger also ran for a two-point conversion and an 8-0 lead. Inklebarger finished with 47 yards on seven carries.

Mayflower got to their Bearcat 22 on their next possession by Brody Chambers and Brenden Hubble made a fourth down stop that left the Eagles short of a first down in the final minute of the half.

The Bearcats started the second half with a 70-yard drive. Tayden Washburn started the drive with a short gain and Robert Musgrove (shown taking a handoff) finished it with an 18-yard touchdown run. Inklebarger was again good for 3 yards and the two-point conversion and a 16-0 lead.

Musgrove ran for 40 yards on four carries.

When Mayflower turned the ball over on downs at their own 28 with just under 10 minutes to go, the Bearcats took advantage with Washburn scoring five plays later to make it 22-0.

Washburn was the rushing leader with 52 yards on 10 carries and completing the rushing attack was Rylie Swint with 38 yards on 4 carries.

Mayflower kept the ball the rest of the game, scoring on the final play.

That would come after a jarring tackle by Chambers, who had three solo tackles with an assist and two tackles for a loss.
