The Booneville Bearcats made their first trip to Patrick Stadium in Mayflower Friday night where they pounded the Eagles 49-14.

The Bearcats (6-1, 3-0) scored 21 points in both the first and second quarters and led 42-6 at halftime.

The first score came courtesy of the Bearcat defense as Dunn Daniel intercepted a pass and returned it 35 yards for a touchdown just 54 seconds into the game. A two-point conversion attempt failed.

An Eagle punt gave the Bearcats the ball at their 40-yard line for the first time.

Randon Ray started a 475-yard offensive night when he ran for 56 yards. Rocky Ross scored from the 4. Randon Ray then threw to Daniel (shown) for a two-point conversion and a 14-0 lead.

Mayflower managed a first down on its next possession but a shared sack by Brett Welling and Mason Goers put the Eagles behind the sticks and they would punt.

Randon Ray ran for 42 yards to start the Bearcat possession and then finished the drive from the 9. Pablo Ferrer added his first of five point after kicks for a 21-0 lead with 6:04 left in the opening quarter.

Ranodn Ray finished with 108 yards on just five carries.

Another sack, this one by Ross and Goers, forced another Eagle punt and the Bearcats took nine plays to score.

Rylen Ray got the touchdown from the 3 and it was 28-0 with 11:12 to go in the half. Rylen Ray finished with 61 yards on 10 carries.

Rayce Blansett recorded the second Bearcat interception of the game to set up the next score, which came as Ross went 47 yards along the home sideline to make it 35-0.

After another Eagle punt the Bearcats were flagged for holding and were in a second-and-18 when Dax Goff rumbled for 44 yards to the Mayflower 38.

Trace Hall scored from there and it was 42-0 with 5:08 left in the half.

Goff ran for 92 yards in the game.

Mayflower then put together an 85-yard drive over 12 plays to cut it to 42-6, but a two-point conversion attempt to avoid the sportsmanship or "mercy" rule was stuffed by Welling and Goff.

Before halftime the Bearcats got into position for a 35-yard field goal attempt but it was no good.

Out of the break, on a third-and-6, Hall went 61 yards for a touchdown and it was 49-6. That gave Hall 99 yards on his two scoring carries.

A couple of possessions that ended in punts used most of the rest of the third quarter before Mayflower got on the board early in the final quarter via a 29-yard pass. A two-point conversion run made it 49-14.

After a Bearcat turnover the Eagles had a chance to draw closer but a fourth down stop by Peyton Tatum gave the Bearcats the ball back with just under four minutes to play.

The Bearcats are at home this weekend taking on Baptist Prep for Homecoming. Prep lost to Paris 24-14 Friday to fall to 4-2 overall and 1-2 in 3A-4 play.
