After getting off to a slow start into the football program, the Booneville Seventh Grade Bearcats went out with a bang.

Hunner Inklebarger scored on a 5-yard run on the final play of the final game Tuesday night to beat Charleston 14-8.

The win is the fourth in six games for the Bearcats, after an 0-3 start.

The winning drive began at the Bearcat 34 after Tayden Washburn and Rylie Swint made a fourth down stop – a stop by Brody Chambers had forced Charleston into a fourth-and-3.

The first three carries of the winning drive were by Robert Musgrove and covered 28 yards.

Washburn had a 12 yard carry on a fourth down and Inklebarger moved the ball to the 5 with 23 seconds to play.

After a bobbled snap, the Bearcats got back to the line of scrimmage to start a play before the final horn and Inklebarger scored from the 5.

The Bearcats had taken an 8-0 lead with a 70-yard drive on the game’s opening possession.

Washburn carried eight times on the drive, scoring from the 2 seven and a half minutes into the game. Washburn, who ran for 78 yards, also added the two-point conversion.

Charleston tied the game at 8-8 about four minutes before halftime.

In addition to leading the rushing attack, Washburn also had three solo and four assisted tackles.

Inklebarger had two solo tackles and three assists and Elijah Draper had a solo stop with four assists.
