Runners often get early starts to their days. A couple of Booneville girls will get a really early start tomorrow.

Junior Carah Miller and freshman Natalie Blankenship will be departing in the early hours Friday in order to get to Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs where the Class 3A girls will be the first race of the second day of state championships. The race starts at 9 a.m.

Miller and Blankenship are the only BHS representatives for the state championship run.

Class 4A and 5A races will follow the 3A Friday.

Miller and Blankenship last ran in the District 3A West meet, which Booneville hosted. Blankenship ran seventh in the junior girls race, rested through the junior boys event, then placed 10th in the senior high race.

That's a little over 4.5 miles of work.

C.J. Johnson was fourth in the senior boys division at district and Elliott Wortham was seventh.

The top placement for the junior boys in the district run was by Sean Pennington in third, followed by Taylor Shaver in fourth.

Cross country state championships began on yesterday with classes 6A, 1A, and 2A races.
