JUNIOR HIGH TEAMS OPEN BASKETBALL SEASON

Jace Washburn scored 14 first half points and the Booneville Junior High Bearcats opened a 33-19 first half lead on the way to a 49-32 season opening win over Mansfield Tuesday.

Washburn finished with a game-high 18 points.

Dakota Mattson also scored eight first half points on four baskets and had 12 points in the game.

Mansfield was able to almost keep pace in the third quarter but the Bearcats led 43-28 through three quarters. Aiden Carter had three of his nine points in the quarter.

In the girls game the Lady Bearcats got 22 points from Novalee Lindstrom but fell to the Lady Tigers 59-35.

Angie Brown scored five for the Lady Bearcats.
