The Booneville Bearcats won their fifth straight conference title this year. They are now playing on Thanksgiving week for the fourth time in those five years.

Traditionally the quarterfinal round, last year’s Thanksgiving week game was actually against Osceola in a second round game due to an extra round added by everyone being permitted to play in the playoffs if they so desired. The Bearcats won that game and reached the quarterfinal round.

All told the Bearcats have played a playoff game after Thanksgiving 22 times. Before 1998 Thanksgiving week meant a semifinal game – there are nine of those.

• THIS DATE IN BEARCAT FOOTBALL HISTORY: The Bearcats are 3-2 in games documented to have been played on November 26. In playoff games the November 19 record is 2-1.

There are a couple of dynamite games to mention here, but especially the November 26, 2004 game against Shiloh Christian, a 70-28 blasting of the Saints.
There were runs of 76 yards by Curtis Christian and 65 by Jeremy McDonald and Derek Davis also threw Andrew Springer a 62-yard touchdown pass. There were 9 PAT kicks by Wayne Pack and 10 total. Andrew Haney had the first one that night, which came after Tobler Turner returned a punt 47 yards for a touchdown. There were 9 sacks, one by Christian that wound up being a defensive touchdown fumble return by Jacob King.

In an overtime win over another SC, Star City this time, on November 26, 1999 Allen Ray ran for 210 yards and Will Swint returned a punt 64 yards for a touchdown.

Joey Ballin had 141 yards and scored four touchdowns against Nashville on this date in 1993.
