Ferguson Hits 7 3s In Bearcat Win

Raiden Ferguson hit four 3-pointers in a span of 2:50 in the second quarter to lead the Bearcats to a big halftime lead.

He hit three more in the second half and finished with 23 points, to go along with three assists and four rebounds, as the Bearcats snapped a three game losing streak by pounding Danville, 62-33.

Before Ferguson (shown) started draining 3s the Bearcats (9-5, 3-0 Conference 3A-4) had scored the first seven points of the game and went on to build a 16-8 on C.J. Johnson’s second basket of the game.

But three free throws from a foul call at the first quarter ending buzzer got the Little Johns within 16-11.

Evan Escobedo started the second quarter scoring with a pair of free throws then Ferguson took over from beyond the arc. After his fourth 3 it was 34-15 with 3:03 to play in the half.

Ferguson had an assist on a London Lee basket a couple minutes later and it was 36-18 at the intermission.

That also started a 14-0 run that included another Ferguson 3 and it was 48-18 with 4:13 to play in the third quarter.

Scoreless in the first half, Mason Goers had five of his eight points in the run. Johnson, Goers, and Colter Fisher all finished with eight points. Johnson also had five steals and eight rebounds, and Fisher also had six assists.

Ferguson hit two more 3s in the final quarter, the later making it 59-29 to start the sportsmanship running clock.

The final Bearcat points of the night came on another 3, by Austin Goff as the final horn sounded which touched off a celebration by teammates.

The Bearcats will next play at Hackett on Friday.
