Through the 4:56 mark of the third quarter Tuesday night the Lady Bearcats and Danville had been separated by no more than four points and the difference was then just 22-20.
Protecting their perfect record, the Lady Bearcats (13-0, 3-0 Conference 3A-4) then scored the next 11 points to take the game full control of the game.
By the time it ended the Lady Bearcats had scored 40 second half points and had trounced the Lady Little Johns 56-37.
Layla Byrum started the 11-0 surge with a steal and a basket but it remained a 24-20 game for a minute and a half.
Heaven Sanchez (shown) ended the dry spell and a 3 by Leigh Swint made it 29-20 inducing a Danville time out.
Out of the time out the lead continued to grow as Lexi Franklin assisted a Joleigh Tate basket and Swint scored another basket to make it 33-20.
After a Danville free throw a Swint assist on a Sanchez score made it 35-21.
Through the third quarter Sanchez and Swint had combined for 20. Over the next 4:15 they would score 19 more.
Sanchez scored the next four Lady Bearcat points and after the duo both scored, Swint hit four straight free throws. Sanchez ran off six more for the Lady Bearcats as they opened a 25-point lead with 3:45 to play, 54-29.
That gave Sanchez a season high 24 for night, to go with eight rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Swint finished with 15 points and also had five points and three steals.
Through the first half and just over three minutes of the second half there were six tie scores and the basket by Byrum made it 20-18 represented the seventh lead change.
Hayley Roberts got a shot to roll in for a 22-18 lead with 6:04 to go in the third quarter, giving the Lady Bearcats their largest lead to that point.
The Lady Bearcats will put their perfect record on the line again on Friday when they visit Hackett for a Conference 3A-4 game.
