The Booneville Bearcats used a huge second half from Raiden Ferguson to halt a two game conference losing skid and destroy Cedarville 54-29.

Ferguson scored 14 of his game-high 22 points in the second half and Mason Goers and Evan Escobedo had key third quarter points as the Bearcats (10-7) pulled away to move to 4-2 in Conference 3A-4 play.

A halftime buzzer beating 3-pointer had gotten the Pirates, who had trailed by as many as eight in the second quarter, into a 23-23 tie.

Four points by Goers (shown) and a couple of free throws by Escobedo had the Bearcats in front 29-23 but a Pirate basket cut it to 29-25.

Goers would finish with 11 and Escobedo nine.

The first Pirate score of the second half was followed by a Pirate time out and out of it a basket by Ferguson started a 10-0 run.

A 3 by Ferguson, after Goers got a steal following a rebound and kicked it to Ferguson, made it 34-25. A 3 by C.J. Johnson and two more Escobedo free throws made it 39-25.

Ferguson closed the third quarter scoring with a 3 and started the fourth quarter attack with another one and the lead was 20.

Ferguson would hit another in the final quarter, giving him six baskets from 3-point land in the game.

Cedarville managed just two fourth quarter points, which came at the foul line.

The Pirates had scored the first five points of the game before seven straight by the Bearcats, capped by a conventional three point play by Johnson.

A pair of 3s by Ferguson made it 13-9 through a quarter.

Baskets by Goers and Ferguson pushed it to 17-9 before the Pirates got back in it, cutting the lead to two on the old fashioned three point play, then 1 on a bonus shot, and tying it a the buzzer.
