Missing Evan Escobedo so far this week, the Booneville Bearcats dropped two games to start the week.
Depth would be as issue – London Lee got one start for Escobedo and Rylen Ray (shown) drew the start at Danville on Tuesday night.
At Danville it was a buzzer beating put back that sank the Bearcats 48-46, as the Little Johns scored the final seven points of the game.
Danville took a lead with 6:11 to play in the third quarter and held it until a Mason Goers basket with 5:20 to play made it 38-37.
Goers, who scored a team-high 15, hit a 3 just 31 seconds later and it was 41-37.
A basket by Colter Fisher, who scored eight of his 10 points in the second half, made it 43-40 with 4:08 left and a free throw by Goers and two by Fisher had the Bearcats up 46-41 with 2:44 left.
Danville drew even with 1:26 left and had a chance to go ahead at the free throw line but couldn’t do so but got the ball back due to a turnover.
The Little Johns first attempt to win it came off the rim and after a scramble for the ball the winning shot was lofted just before time expired.
The game was close throughout with the lead being no bigger than four for either side in the first half before a 22-22 tie at the intermission.
Raiden Ferguson had scored eight points in the first half and would be the third Bearcat in double figures with 10.
In a game rescheduled from January 11, the Bearcats fell at Waldron 66-40.
Waldron led 28-20 at the half and took a 10-point lead just 10 seconds into the third quarter.
Lee had assists on baskets by Fisher and C.J. Johnson to cut it to 30-24 but a four plus minute scoring drought allowed Waldron to open a 17 point lead and the Bulldogs pulled away from there.
Both Johnson and Ferguson scored 14 to lead the Bearcats.
