The Booneville Bearcats had a couple of chances to make it a two possession game in the third quarter of a loss to Hackett Saturday but were unable to do so.
Hackett then ran away with a 46-27 win.
The Bearcats trailed throughout as Hackett scored the first 10 points in the game but the Hornets could not fully pull away until the late third and fourth quarters.
It was 21-11 at the intermission and the Bearcats got within 23-15 with 6:06 left in the third quarter and were down 25-17 just 1:38 later.
A couple of possessions with the deficit still eight would be fruitless and Hackett opened a 13-point lead by the end of the quarter.
The 33-20 lead would be the start of a 8-0 run through the 4:15 mark of the final quarter and the 19-point cushion would be the final margin.
C.J. Johnson led the Bearcats with eight points and Mason Goers added seven points and six rebounds.
The Bearcats will next play tonight for both senior night and homecoming, playing the first game of the night.
The senior night festivities were planned but the homecoming events were postponed from last Friday due to a winter storm, which was the reason the Hackett game was played on Saturday.
Bearcat seniors to be recognized are Evan Escobedo, Mason Goers, London Lee, and Austin Goff.
