The Booneville Junior High girls and boys track teams came home from Ozark with hardware last week.
Scoring 38 points in relays, the Jr. Lady Bearcats scored 141 points to win the meet by 3.5 points over Waldron.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Allie Siddons, Presley Walker, Anna Ferguson, and Novalee Lindstrom ran a 57.10 to win the event. Siddons, Ferguson, and Lindstrom all ran a leg of the 4x200 – Emily Wooldridge ran the other – and finished first with a time of 2:06.29.
The 4x400-meter relay saw Walker, Ferguson Wooldridge, and Lindstrom grouped together for a win at 5:01.46. Adisyn Hill, Natalie Blankenship, Christina O’Neal, and Vanessa O’Neal almost made it a relay sweep, but placed second in 12:44.12 in the 4x800.
Walker also won the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 56.94, finishing a spot ahead of Hill who was second at 57.78.
Angie Brown was the remaining event winner for the Lady Bearcats, taking the triple jump with a mark of 30’ 6”. Walker was second in the event with a distance of 28’ 9.5”.
In the other field events it was Lindstrom placing second in the high jump at 4’ 6” and Alanna Helms tying for fourth at 4’ 4”; Lindstrom was fifth in the long jump at 13’ 4”; and Natalie Rhodes took third in the shot put at 33’ and seventh in the discus at 61’ 9”.
The 100-meter hurdles saw Ferguson take second at 19.68 and Wooldridge finish seventh at 20.96. Remaining sprint events saw Helms run to a fifth place tie in the 100-meter dash at 16.13; Lindstrom ran second at 30.13 and Wooldridge sixth at 32.12 in the 200; and Ferguson took second in the 400 at 1:08.34 and Helms running sixth at 1:14.77.
In the longer distances it was Vanessa O’Neal fifth (3:12.47) and Temperance Dilbeck sixth (3:18.99) in the 800-meter run and Blankenship was seventh in the 1600-meter run at 7:37.09.
In the boys division the Bearcats scored 117.5 points and won five events, including two by Demari Poole on the way to being handed the first place plaque.
Poole won the shot put with a toss of 42’ and the discus with a throw of 127’ 2”. Josh Redmon also placed sixth in the discus at 82’ 11”.
Jace Washburn picked up an event win with a 110-meter hurdle run of 18.73. Triton Halpain was eighth in the event at 21.5 and Halpain also took sixth in the 300-meter hurdles at 53.39.
Dakota Mattson won the high jump at 5’ 6” and Conner Lentz tied for seventh at 5 feet.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Conner Droemer, Mattson, Clayton Loftin, and Hunter Warren posted a 49.44 to win that race.
In remaining field events Washburn was third in the pole vault at 9 feet with Loftin fourth at 8’ 6”. Washburn and Loftin were also fourth (35’ 7.75”) and fifth (35’ 6”) in the triple jump. Mattson took third in the long jump at 17’ 6.25” with Warren seventh at 16’ 11”.
Other sprint events saw Warren third in the 100-meter dash at 12.09 and Mattson sixth in the event at 12.38. Warren was second in the 200 at 25.16 with Mattson running fourth at 26.07. Chase Shelton added an eighth in the 400 at 1:02.04.
The 4x200-meter relay team of Lentz, Loftin, Droemer, and Washburn ran fifth at 1:48.21 and both the 4x400 and 4x800 teams were seventh. The 4x400 meter team was Dakota Fonseca, Shelton, Nathaniel McKinney and Washburn, and the 4x800 meter grouping was Levi McMaster, Rhett Nietert, McKinney, and Dylan Todd.
