Lexi Franklin recorded 14 of 15 outs on strikes, hit a two-run home run and tripled in an 8-0 win over Danville on Tuesday.

Franklin allowed just one hit and has allowed only one over 10 innings this week.

The game was shortened to five innings, ending when Joleigh Tate (shown) doubled to score Brooke Turner with one down in the fifth.

Through an inning and a half the only baserunner was a Lady Little John, who reached on an error. That changed when Franklin tripled to open the bottom of the second.

Franklin scored on a passed ball while Turner was drawing a walk and Turner scored her first run on a two-out error – Danville committed five.

With one down in the home third Layla Byrum drew a four pitch walk. She scored when Leigh Swint bunted her way aboard with an accompanying error.

Franklin followed with her home run and it was 5-0.

Caroline Smithson led off the fourth with a walk and scored on a one out hit by Roni Tillery. Tillery later scored on a passed ball for a 7-0 lead.

Today is an off day for the Lady Bearcats (5-1, 1-0 3A-4 South). They are scheduled to play at Lamar Thursday and at Waldron Friday, then host the Raymond Turner Memorial tournament Saturday.
