Scoring double digit points in nine events – there were eight event wins – and scoring at least seven points in 12 events, the Booneville Junior High Bearcats easily outpaced the field in Mansfield Thursday night.
For the night the Bearcats accumulated 150 points. Twenty-seven points back was second place De Queen, with Waldron third at 102 in the meet.
The Bearcats scored 18 points in the pole vault with Trevor Karow and Jace Washburn both clearing 9’ 6” for first and second.
Hunter Warren won the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.36 and Dakota Mattson was third at 26.31 for 16 points.
The Bearcats also picked up 16 in the 100-meter hurdles which Washburn won with a time of 19.03 with Karow third at 20.31.
Demari Poole won the discus with a toss of 129’ 9” and Josh Redmond was fifth in the event at 105.3 for 14 total points.
Warren was second in the 100-meter dash at 11.88 and Mattson was fourth at 12.61 for a combined 13 points.
Poole also won the shot put with a toss of 41’ 10.5” and Warren took seventh at 35’ 1” for 12 points.
Mattson was the lone scorer but won the high jump clearing 5’ 6” for 10 points.
The 4x100- and 4x200-meter relay teams both took first for 10 points. The 4x100-meter runners were Conner Droemer, Clayton Loftin, Warren and Mattson; and the 4x200-meter team was Washburn, Mattson, Conner Lentz, and Loftin.
Washburn took third in the triple jump at 35’ 0.25” and with Loftin sixth at 33’ 8” the Bearcats picked up nine points.
Washburn scored eight more points with a second place 300-meter hurdle run of 52.13.
Mattson went fourth in the long jump at 16’ 9.5” and Warren took seventh at 16’ 5.5” for a seven point event.
The remaining Bearcat points came from the 4x800- and 4x400-meter relay teams. The 4x800-meter crew of Rhett Nietert, Dylan Todd, Chase Shelton, and Wesley Fonseca was fifth at 10:57.17; and the 4x400-meter team of Karow, Shelton, Fonseca, and Droemer were sixth at 4:33.12.
Girls
The Lady Bearcats amassed 61.5 points in the meet for a fifth place team finish.
Angie Brown turned in the Lady Bearcat top performance with a second place triple jump mark of 28’ 11. Presley Walker was also sixth in the event at 28’ 2.5”.
In the other jumping event Novalee Lindstrom tied for fourth at 4’ 4” in the high jump for 4.5 points.
In the throws Natalei Rhodes was fifth in the shot put at 32’ 3” and fourth in the discus at 65’ 6”. Harley Fitzjurls was also seventh in the discus, throwing 64’ 2”.
Both the 4x200- and 4x100-meter relay teams took third with times of 2:06.87 and 59.33, respectively. The 4x200-meter relay team was Allie Siddons, Anna Ferguson, Emily Wooldridge, and Lindstorm; and the 4x100 grouping was Siddons, Walker, Ferguson, and Lindstrom.
The 4x400-meter relay team finished fifth at 5:12.5 and the 4x800-meter relay took sixth at 13:13.66. The 4x400 runners were Walker, Ferguson, Wooldridge, and Linstrom; and the 4x800 runners were Adisyn Hill, Natalie Blankenship, Christina O’Neal, and Vanessa O’Neal.
In the hurdle events the Lady Bearcats got a fourth place finish in the 300 meter event from Hill at 57.72 with Walker eighth at 1:00.30 and Ferguson was fifth in the 100 meter event with a time of 19.84.
Sprint events saw Lindstrom run fifth in the 200-meter dash at 31.53 in the 200-meter dash, and Ferguson take eighth in the 100-meter dash at 15.17.
