Junior High Track Teams 4th In Waldron

The Booneville Junior High Lady Bearcats and Jr. Bearcats both finished fourth in the Waldron Junior Bulldog Relays Tuesday night.

The girls were fourth among 18 teams that scored and the boys were fourth among 20 scoring teams. There were 28 schools registered.

High point award winner Ellie Smith led the Lady Bearcats. She won both the 100-meter and 200-meter dash with times of 13.71 and 28.77, respectively.

Smith also had the top performance in the high jump which, once the event was officially scored after a protest, was recognized as 4’ 10” and a tie for third.

Smith was also second in the long jump at 14’ 10.5” and she ran a leg of the second place 4x200-meter relay with Allie Siddons, Anna Ferguson, and Novalee Lindstrom. The quartet combined for a time of 1:59.99.

The Lady Bearcats also got a second place finish from Ferguson (1:08.64) and scored nine total points in the 400-meter as Alanna Helms placed eighth at 1:13.16.

In other field events Angie Brown took fourth in the triple jump at 29’ 9” and Presley Walker was sixth at 29’ 4”, and Natalie Rhodes was eighth in the shot put at 31’ 10”.

In the hurdle events Walker was seventh in the 300 meter event at 57.19 and Ferguson was eighth in the 100 meter version at 19.74.

The three other relay squads also placed with both the 4x100 and 4x400 teams fourth. The 4x100 (57.29) grouping was Siddons, Walker, Ferguson, and Lindstrom. The 4x400 (4:54.94) runners were Walker, Ferguson, Emily Wooldridge, and Lindstrom.

The 4x800 team of Christina O’Neal, Adisyn Hill, Natalie Blankenship, and Vanessa O’Neal ran a 12:58.20 and was seventh.

Boys

Hunter Warren had three second place finishes to lead the Bearcats.

Warren was second in the long jump at 19’ 8.5”, the 100-meter dash at 12.17, and the 200-meter dash at 24.90.

Warren added a sixth in the shot put at 40’ 10.5”, and a fifth place tie in the high jump at 5’ 2”.

Wesley Fonseca was fourth in the high jump at 5’ 4” and other field event scoring came from Trevor Karow with a fourth place tie at 9’ 6” in the pole vault and Josh Redmond placing sixth in the discus at 110’ 10”.

Conner Lentz took seventh in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 20.23.

Remaining scoring came from the relay teams with the 4x200-meter relay team of Lentz, Clayton Loftin, Conner Droemer, and Chase Shelton placing third at 1:45.92.

The 4x100 team of Droemer, Lentz, Loftin, and Karow was sixth at 50.33 and the 4x800 squad of Fonseca, Shelton, Nathaniel McKinney and Rhett Nietert was seventh at 10:37.86.
